Last week we attended the Spirit of ABNY Awards presented by the ABNY Foundation, honoring those who have provided a distinguished level of service to New York City. We were honored to provide designs for the invitation and event graphics. While last year honored the tech community of NYC, this year the recipients were chosen for their commitment and generosity to the city in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Honorees included the Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City, the Empire State Relief Fund, and US Senator Chuck Schumer.
For the designs, we presented an homage to the city we love - honoring both its past and present. A poster-sized photo of the skyline backs the typographic invitation that features the typeface Gotham (itself based on historic NYC building signage) and a treatment inspired by the Art Deco elegance of some of New York's most famous landmarks.

The invitation folded to feature the poster image, with the invitation copy peeking through a strip in the middle.
The poster side features an aerial skyline overlaid with the apple that is the symbol of the awards.
The inside is printed with metallic gold and a double-hit of black on butcher paper for a rich feel.
This year, we replaced sponsor and honoree posters with an animated video loop that played on screens throughout the event:
