Making vital information accessible

Building on our work with NPF for Caring and Coping, we developed an overarching system to unify all educational resources from the foundation. This series of guidebooks is written by experts in the field, containing practical guidance, advice and tools for people with Parkinson’s Disease and their caregivers. To make it easier for patients and caregivers to find the information they need, we organized the guidebooks into four topics: Mind, Treatment, Health and Body. The first of the series, Psychosis: A Mind Guide to Parkinson’s Disease was released in August 2016, with future titles rolling out over the next year. We developed a visual system for the entire series based on human-focused photography, with two-color interiors to reduce printing costs for the free publications. To unify the materials within the trusted NPF brand, we leveraged the success of the icons we created for the Whatever It Takes campaign and extended the series through these publications. Each icon represents one of hundreds of different things that can be done to combat Parkinson’s. All guidebooks in the series have color-coded spines: Mind topics use oranges, Health topics use greens, etc. This makes it easy for users and NPF staff to find the right guidebook at a glance. We also delivered an interactive PDF for download that features hyperlinks to online videos and resources, rollover definitions for glossary terms, and embedded navigation. The ultimate result is the most easy-to-use, unified library of resources on living with Parkinson’s available anywhere.
